Blog Post Nº 8: Have you had a good year 2014

Hello,
This time I’m going to talk about a number: 2014.
I have to say that this year has been a really good year.

I started my career in sociology in good conditions, I have had good results and I have not regretted my choice (at least not yet). Moreover, I have learned to move me better in Santiago, I have learned a lot of things about Psicology, Antropology, History, I’ve meet good friends and I have enjoyed this year with my boyfriend, walking around the city and going to amazing places with him.

Some achievements have been learning to live and coexist with my sister, get used to coming to college cycling, get good grades, and keep the friends I made in the other career that I studied.

For the other hand, I could not utilize and optimize my time better. I have not learned to drive, that is something I promise to do this year; I have not done sports to keep my physical state (maybe fitness is a better word), among others (many) things.

Important news that happened to me are few. My father changed job, my sisters travelled to Italy without me, my two grandmothers became sick and both were interned in the clinic this month.

Besides all this, this year first I started working on something serious. I had previously worked in sporadic jobs, but this year I worked with schedules, salary and contract.  I guess it was a achievement! However, the truth is that I was paid so bad and I was exploited, so I quit after 5 months

Blog Post Nº 6: Themed/ Free Post Nº 3

What would my Friday be without the English Class? It’s an interesting question. To be honest, I really want to finishing this level of English. The reason is that i`ve always had english lessons on Fridays, which is quite unfavorable for who goes home (in the province) on weekends, or who goeas to the parties that are made outside the faculty, on the grass.

Personally, I hate going to the university on Fridays afternoon because I finish lessons almost at six, and then I have to go home to take my bag and after that go to the bus station, arriving at a time when it is difficult to find bus tickets. For this reason, I arrive very late at home in Valparaiso, and I'm tired to go out and see my friends. And if I do, I do not enjoy so much. Also, the stay with my family becomes shorter.

If I could fulfill this dream, I may have more time to study, read, go out, go to the cinema, go to meet friends that I never meet etc. I would be VERY happy.

The truth is that I can not think what to write, but in summary, if I had Fridays off is how to expand my freedom x 1000.

Now watch this video that would reflect my feelings of a Friday without English lessons.

Post 3: My Future Job

Hello classmates and professor, today I have to talk about my expectations regarding my future employment.

Last year this topic was very important for me, because I was studying law and I did not know if I really wanted to stay in that career. If I decided that I didn’t want to continuo this career, I had to think and decide what else to study.  Were difficult moments, especially because the social pressure that meant a career changes. I was very frustrated.

Finally, not very sure about my decision, I started studying Sociology. I think nobody really knows what the work of a sociologist, so I started my year with considerable uncertainty and without too many expectations.
I imagine my future job a little boring, indoor, always within an office. In summary: a very monotonous job.

I hope that my future won’t be like this, and I would like to include things that I like at work, like literature, art, music, some psychology, anthropology, etc. I am a very active person and I won’t to stay the rest of my life locked reading boring books. I would like to investigate topics that interest me, traveling, meeting different societies, do field work, including other disciplines within my studies.

That’s all! See you

Blog Post Nº 7: THEMED POST 4: HOBBIES

Hi!
Today I am going to write about hobbies. But as I have a draft of a last class about sports and extracurricular activities (I never used it because I had the wrong topic), I will use the writing for this post.
I chose this theme because I have always enrolled in as many extracurricular activities I could. When I started school I got to Italian dance lessons, at the same time I started doing gymnastics classes. I practicing Italian dance lasted only one year and four years in gymnastics. After that I enrolled in theater classes, but because we were very few registered, after 2 years the workshop ceased to exist. Then I started playing volleyball, but after 2 years I get bored of this sport and I started something new and more dynamic: artistic roller-skating.

Because at that time I did not want to stop doing some physical activity, I began playing football in the school. I had a great time practicing that sport.
I lasted two years playing football, and I went to a couple of school sports Olympics. I was never good in this sport, but I enjoyed a lot with my friends and make advantage of these sports outings.

And now¿?  When I started college I became a sedentary person. One of my hobbies is reading literature; I like going to the cinema very much (at least once a month), I like going to the GAM to see plays, circus and art exhibitions. Is too hipster what I'm saying?

Post 7: HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

This Friday I’m going to write about pollution and environmentally friendly practices to avoid this phenomenon.

I think the most of people  are informed about of the seriousness of the matter and are taking measures to help reduce their “carbon footprint”. Many people know this problem due to non-governmental organizations work that are dedicated to disseminating information; due to government’s campaigns, news and features of TV programmes, etc.

For my part, I consider myself a responsible person but not very committed to the cause, in fact, I have never joined or supported eco-organisations. I don’t know why, but it never interested me so much to dedicate myself seriously, maybe because I had no friends or someone could stimulate me to do it.

However, since last year I started recycling my garbage in Santiago because I started living near the Faculty of Economics and Business where there are recycling bins to the garbage. Sometimes, I use my bicycle, but only for trips within the burrogh.

The rest of the times I use public transport; neither me or my family are accustomed to using the car. Moreover, I use my clothes and technological objects until they stop working or break, in that sense I’m not very consumerist. At the moment, I would like to start using my bike to go everywhere, have more plants and reduce operating time lights and tech gadgets, reduce my shower time, etc.
