Post 10: Good and Bad Points (so far..)

Hello classmates and professor:
This Friday the topic is my experience learning English at university.
What can I say?

I'm on the last level of English, at the 4th. But I did not start at the first level. I started at 3th (luckily). My experience at the 3th level of English was very good, the professor was nice and dedicated and the best thing was that the class was composed of classmates of sociology and friends. Now, at 4th level, the experience has been ok but the bad thing is that I knew no one when I started the course, so is a little boring. I don’t talk too much at class because I do not feel so comfortable talking to people you do not know. Last semester I felt much more at ease and without shame because I knew my friends. Even we spent time joking and laughing, It was very entertaining and motivating.

About the use of English BlogSpot, the idea is that one of us has a website where we have to post all Friday something new. I thing is a creative idea. I recommend using the website for classes because serves to learn English by a funny way. I like this way of teaching because you learn to write, but writing about things that interest you.

The bad thing is that I don’t like computers too much, and because my bad vocabulary, I use “google traductor” some times. It's bad because I do not remember the words which I translate and I have to translate it again and again.

It's friday!!!

Blog Post Nº 8: Have you had a good year 2014

Hello,
This time I’m going to talk about a number: 2014.
I have to say that this year has been a really good year.

I started my career in sociology in good conditions, I have had good results and I have not regretted my choice (at least not yet). Moreover, I have learned to move me better in Santiago, I have learned a lot of things about Psicology, Antropology, History, I’ve meet good friends and I have enjoyed this year with my boyfriend, walking around the city and going to amazing places with him.

Some achievements have been learning to live and coexist with my sister, get used to coming to college cycling, get good grades, and keep the friends I made in the other career that I studied.

For the other hand, I could not utilize and optimize my time better. I have not learned to drive, that is something I promise to do this year; I have not done sports to keep my physical state (maybe fitness is a better word), among others (many) things.

Important news that happened to me are few. My father changed job, my sisters travelled to Italy without me, my two grandmothers became sick and both were interned in the clinic this month.

Besides all this, this year first I started working on something serious. I had previously worked in sporadic jobs, but this year I worked with schedules, salary and contract.  I guess it was a achievement! However, the truth is that I was paid so bad and I was exploited, so I quit after 5 months

Blog Post Nº 6: Themed/ Free Post Nº 3

What would my Friday be without the English Class? It’s an interesting question. To be honest, I really want to finishing this level of English. The reason is that i`ve always had english lessons on Fridays, which is quite unfavorable for who goes home (in the province) on weekends, or who goeas to the parties that are made outside the faculty, on the grass.

Personally, I hate going to the university on Fridays afternoon because I finish lessons almost at six, and then I have to go home to take my bag and after that go to the bus station, arriving at a time when it is difficult to find bus tickets. For this reason, I arrive very late at home in Valparaiso, and I'm tired to go out and see my friends. And if I do, I do not enjoy so much. Also, the stay with my family becomes shorter.

If I could fulfill this dream, I may have more time to study, read, go out, go to the cinema, go to meet friends that I never meet etc. I would be VERY happy.

The truth is that I can not think what to write, but in summary, if I had Fridays off is how to expand my freedom x 1000.

Now watch this video that would reflect my feelings of a Friday without English lessons.

Post 3: My Future Job

Hello classmates and professor, today I have to talk about my expectations regarding my future employment.

Last year this topic was very important for me, because I was studying law and I did not know if I really wanted to stay in that career. If I decided that I didn’t want to continuo this career, I had to think and decide what else to study.  Were difficult moments, especially because the social pressure that meant a career changes. I was very frustrated.

Finally, not very sure about my decision, I started studying Sociology. I think nobody really knows what the work of a sociologist, so I started my year with considerable uncertainty and without too many expectations.
I imagine my future job a little boring, indoor, always within an office. In summary: a very monotonous job.

I hope that my future won’t be like this, and I would like to include things that I like at work, like literature, art, music, some psychology, anthropology, etc. I am a very active person and I won’t to stay the rest of my life locked reading boring books. I would like to investigate topics that interest me, traveling, meeting different societies, do field work, including other disciplines within my studies.

That’s all! See you

Blog Post Nº 7: THEMED POST 4: HOBBIES

Hi!
Today I am going to write about hobbies. But as I have a draft of a last class about sports and extracurricular activities (I never used it because I had the wrong topic), I will use the writing for this post.
I chose this theme because I have always enrolled in as many extracurricular activities I could. When I started school I got to Italian dance lessons, at the same time I started doing gymnastics classes. I practicing Italian dance lasted only one year and four years in gymnastics. After that I enrolled in theater classes, but because we were very few registered, after 2 years the workshop ceased to exist. Then I started playing volleyball, but after 2 years I get bored of this sport and I started something new and more dynamic: artistic roller-skating.

Because at that time I did not want to stop doing some physical activity, I began playing football in the school. I had a great time practicing that sport.
I lasted two years playing football, and I went to a couple of school sports Olympics. I was never good in this sport, but I enjoyed a lot with my friends and make advantage of these sports outings.

And now¿?  When I started college I became a sedentary person. One of my hobbies is reading literature; I like going to the cinema very much (at least once a month), I like going to the GAM to see plays, circus and art exhibitions. Is too hipster what I'm saying?

Post 7: HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

This Friday I’m going to write about pollution and environmentally friendly practices to avoid this phenomenon.

I think the most of people  are informed about of the seriousness of the matter and are taking measures to help reduce their “carbon footprint”. Many people know this problem due to non-governmental organizations work that are dedicated to disseminating information; due to government’s campaigns, news and features of TV programmes, etc.

For my part, I consider myself a responsible person but not very committed to the cause, in fact, I have never joined or supported eco-organisations. I don’t know why, but it never interested me so much to dedicate myself seriously, maybe because I had no friends or someone could stimulate me to do it.

However, since last year I started recycling my garbage in Santiago because I started living near the Faculty of Economics and Business where there are recycling bins to the garbage. Sometimes, I use my bicycle, but only for trips within the burrogh.

The rest of the times I use public transport; neither me or my family are accustomed to using the car. Moreover, I use my clothes and technological objects until they stop working or break, in that sense I’m not very consumerist. At the moment, I would like to start using my bike to go everywhere, have more plants and reduce operating time lights and tech gadgets, reduce my shower time, etc.

Bumbumbummmm!

Hello classmates and professor:

Today I am going to talk about something very polemic: I will discuss the case of the bomb (chan chan). If you do not know about this event, this Monday (8th) a homemade bomb exploded in the subway, at Tobalaba station to be specific, destroying part of the place and leaving many innocent people injured. The recurring question throughout is: Who planted the bomb?                                                                                                                                                                                                      Ok, I have to be honest: I really don’t know about this theme. I readed a lot and on Internet and papers and I discuss it with my friends, family and nearby but I am too incredulous and skeptical about theories that have emerged.

The culprit was an anarchist group? A fraction of the student movement was? I do not think so. But at the same time it seems strange to think that the government was responsible for creating this atmosphere of panic and the political instability reflected in public opinion, that not suit them.

Other reviews claim that ultra right-wing groups were to blame for the explosion because they are looking mistrust the reforms that are taking place in the country today, reforms that contradict their political objectives.                                                                                                                    This seems a bit iffy; I think it is a too risky strategy, although it has already happened before, in the years before the coup was a frequent practice of the right-wing to destabilize the government of Allende.

Post N°2 FRONTERA:

Hello boys and girls:

Today, like every Friday I'm forced (yes, forced) to publish a post (just kidding).
This time, the theme of my article is about a concert, or rather musical festival: Frontera
I went to this festival on November 9th last year. The show was held in “Club Hípico”, that is localted near “Parque O’Higgins” metro station.
The most important bands invited were Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Cultura Profética, Chico Trujillo and Jorge Gonzalez. The first is an Argentinean band, that plays ska and rock music. The secod band is originally from Puerto Rico and plays reggae. The others are Chilean bands and I’m sure you know them.
In the festival there were three stages, and each had a band playing, then there was always somewhere to go without getting bored. It was amazing, the place was full of people, singers and musicians!  We had fun during the day but at night we were very hungry and there was a terrible cold that prevented us from enjoying the latest concerts.
I went to the Frontera Festival with a dear cousin, Fernanda (who was with a friend) and two great friends, Martín and Ricardo. Oh, and I was also at the festival my boyfriend and other acquaintances.

Free Post 2

In this post we can chose the theme we're going to write about, so I am going to chose writing about something I like very much. I'm talking about a serie I just finished watching: Prófugos.
 .                                                                                                                                                        .
Prófugos is a chilean series produced by Fabula Producciones and Efe3 and it is broad cast to Chile and America by HBO Latin America.
 .                                                                                                                                                        .
I started watching this serie in June and within a week I had already seen both seasons.  I loved the episodes because the best actors and actresses of Chile appear, such as Luis Gnecco, Blanca Lewine, Benjamín Vicuña, Francisco Reyes. Also, in each episode you can appreciate landscapes from different parts of Chile, for example, Punta Arenas, Atacama Desert, Valparaíso, Santiago.
.                                                                                                                                                        .
Moreover, the background music heard in the serie is Chilean, whose principal singers are Camila Moreno and Manuel Garcia.
.                                                                                                                                                        .
it's a really entertaining and dynamic series. In each scene amazing and unexpected shots and things happen. Drugs, politics, weapons, sex, murders: all in these episodes.
I hope I had convinced you to view this amazing series.
.                                                                                                                                                        .

Good Bye!

Post 1- A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

If I had to choose one of the different cities of the world to visit I would choose France. To be honest I don’t know very much about that country, I only know a few things that I’ve learned in History class and history books, mostly about the French Revolution that impact all the Earth. Moreover, I know some importants cities like Paris (bacause films, photos, books), Versalles (because the Treaty), Avignon (because the song) and Lyon (because my cousin travelled there).

If I could go to France, I would like to know the cities I named, and I would like to walking for hours around the streets and alleys, visiting churches, museums and parks of these beautiful cities.

I would go to France as a tourist, because I can’t speak french. I would not go there to work, live or study unless it was a real necessity. I would prefer to live in Italy or Spain if I could.

See you in the next post

Friday 6 June 2014

Hello fans,
(just kidding)

In this post I'm going to talk about the best experience in the Faculty of Social Science of the "Universidad de Chile".

I thing the moment of this year when I enjoy most was the "Carrete Mechón",  a big party that the Fech organize every year in different campus and places of the university. In the feast were bands playing music, animators and different activities. This time was playing "Banda Conmoción", "Tiro de Gracia" and "Javiera Mena", and there was a transvestite animating the crowd.

There were a LOT OF PEOPLE!!!!!
I go there with my former teammates, and we really enjoyed the party, dancing all day and all night (okNO). At the end of the party you could see a lot of crazy people (Most drunks) and a lot of new couples hahaha. Me and my friends did not fall in that state, but anyway we were very happ and pleased by the great moment.

see you next week ;)
Amanda

Sunday 1 June 2014

Hello guys!!

I would like to talk about this photography today. Rather than these four photographs.

I always wanted to take me that kind of photo that usually appears on big parties in American movies.

These photographs are taken by an automatic camera, in a picture cabin on Lollapalooza event. You can see me and a good friend smiling on the camera with crazy costumes and accessories. We were in Lollapalooza not for fun, we were there to work. But anyway we had a lot of fun.  We took advantage of everything, because we worked in the VIP site, and there you could enjoy eating, drinking and do what you want without paying. One of the services was this free photo… and we take us one!!! It was so funny!

Good afternoon ladies and gentleman!

The topic of my post today is a career-related website, specifically the English BlogSpot, yes! I know that you know about this blog!!!!!!!

I discover this website in my English class on Friday, the idea is that one of us (my classmates) has a website where we have to post all Friday something new, and we find the instructions of the homework on that website. So, we use it for find the instructions and teacher’s examples to make a better work. This post is actually one of my homework.

I recommend using the website for classes because serves to learn English by a funny way. I like this way of teaching because you learn to write, but writing about things that interest you.   For example, this Friday I wrote about my trip on the south of Chile, and the last I wrote about my job.

If you are interested to know more about it, the link of the website is englishlevel3onfridays.blogspot.com .

A see you later!

Travelling in the south of Chile

On February of 2014, on midsummer, I travelled to Los Lagos Region with my boyfriend. It was the first time I did what in Spanish is called “mochilear”, and it was the best experience of my life.

From Curicó we went “haciendo dedo” to Chiloe, and there (in Castro) were my cousin and a friend waiting us. We continue travelling together of curse.

The four went to Castro and Dalcahue, where lives an university friend, “El Chelo”, who clearly knew all Chiloe, so showed us everything of this wonderful island…

Ah! I’m forgetting we met a guy on the road. We became friends, so we continued traveling with him. Hahahaha, after the trip we never saw again.

After 2 weeks we go to Cole-Cole, the most beautiful beach I ever saw!!!!  We arrived there after walking six hours into a wood, with backpacks, bags, the tend and a lot of food, because there is no shop or houses. But It was worth!!

After Cole-Cole we separated from the group and met some university’s friends, but they were very tired of "mochilear".

Because that, they return Santiago and I, my boufriend and another friend continue our trip together. We finally went to Valdivia, and after few days we return to aur homes “a dedo” again.
¡Hasta la vista!

My job

In this occasion I’m going to talk about my job.
Since I was 16 I have always worked in something: in the supermarket, in events, cutting tickets in concerts, making surveys, etc.
Now, I'm working in a little café/ restaurant/ shop located in the corner of Matta and Vicuña Mackena. It's a part-time job and I only have to go two days a week: Wednesdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays I arrive at 2.30 p.m. and I finished at 8 p.m. On Fridays I arrive at 8 o' clock and I can go at 2.30 p.m. It's very bad this schedule because I have to be in the university on Fridays at the same time that I finish working.

I like my job because it is a good thing to get money without working a lot and spending too many hours. The bad thing is that they pay me very bad, but because of the flexibility and the fact that is a stable job, I'm still working there. Moreover, the café is located in the same building I live, so I don’t have to take de bus or the tube.

My Notebook

The first thing I have to say is that I'm not very good with technology in general. I don't like tablets, iPods, mp3 players, television or talking on the cellphone. The only technological things that I use to have fun are my notebook and my camera. In this homework, I'll speak about my notebook.

I got it in the summer of 2013 because I was going to go to the university in March and I didn't have a notebook to do my homework, essays and see the class information in general. My aunt and uncle gave me the notebook as a surprise, and I was so happy.

I use my notebook a lot of time during the day, because I'm a little obsessed with Facebook and what my friends tell me in the chat. Furthermore, in the class groups my classmates upload information all time, and generally they are important things. If I didnt' have my notebook, I think I would have more time to study and do others things I like to do, because the time that I use in Facebook could be better distributed.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Hello guys (classmates and teacher, basically), my name is Amanda Andueza, I'm 19 years old. I was born on 1st September 1994, in a little town in Belgium. I lived there only a couple of months because my parents were travelling in Europe for studies. They are chileans, so I am. We are four sisters, and we have our father and our step mother, Pablo and Emilia. She is italian and she is like our mother because she raised us since we were small. I lived my childhood in Viña del Mar, but when I was 7 amd my father married Emilia, all my family moved to Valparaíso, fortunately.
In this moment I'm living in Santiago with my sister Magdalena. We are living here since 2013, but my heart will always belong to Valparaíso. Yes, the famous Pacific Jewel: the mystic, beautiful, and, why not say, dirty city located in the hidden country named Chile.
I left Valpo to come to Santiago because I started the university carrer, Sociology in the Univerida de Chile, that is situated in the capital.
Because the crazy circumstances of life I stopped studying Law recently, and in this moment i'm studing Sociology, but, sincerely, I don't know what could happen tomorrow. I'm too undeciced and I like a lot of things, like literature, architecture, journalism, for example.
When I'm not at the university or studying at home, i'm working in a café that is located next to my appartament. It's really nice, because it is a calm and relaxed job. The best thing is that I don't have to take a bus or the unconfortable tube to get to work.
bla bla bla . . .
